Alaska Women's Oral History Project : records, 1980-1983.

The collection contains interviews with sixty-eight Alaskan women, as well as tape logs and transcripts of interviews. In the interviews, the women discuss their lives, work, and experiences in Alaska. There is also a video entitled "Women of the Alaska Territory," produced by Maria Brooks; and eight thirty-minute radio programs entitled "Interviews with History."

Lorena Williams was born in Iowa. She married Roydon Showers in 1924. After living in Minnesota for several years, they moved to Juneau, Alaska, in 1940 and then to Anchorage in 1941. Lorena Showers worked as a waitress in Anchorage and became an active member of the Hotel and Restaurant Employees Union. Cuddy, Lucy Hon, 1889-1982

Lucy Hon Cuddy was born in Waldron, Arkansas. She graduated from the University of Arkansas (1911). She taught school for five years before moving to Valdez, Alaska, where she continued her teaching career. She married Warren N. Cuddy, a lawyer from Washington, in 1916. They had two sons, David Warren Cuddy and Daniel Hon Cuddy. Mrs. Cuddy served as a school principal, as a member of the Board of Regents of the University of Alaska, and as chairman of the board of First National Bank of Alaska. ...
