Lorena Williams was born in Iowa. She married Roydon Showers in 1924. After living in Minnesota for several years, they moved to Juneau, Alaska, in 1940 and then to Anchorage in 1941. Lorena Showers worked as a waitress in Anchorage and became an active member of the Hotel and Restaurant Employees Union. Lucy Hon Cuddy was born in Waldron, Arkansas. She graduated from the University of Arkansas (1911). She taught school for five years before moving to Valdez, Alaska, where she continued her teaching career. She married Warren N. Cuddy, a lawyer from Washington, in 1916. They had two sons, David Warren Cuddy and Daniel Hon Cuddy. Mrs. Cuddy served as a school principal, as a member of the Board of Regents of the University of Alaska, and as chairman of the board of First National Bank of Alaska. ...
